2 people were killed, 1 was critically injured and 1 was hurt in multiple shootings that took place in Dayton.

According to the Dayton Police Department in 2022, 33 people died in Dayton Homicides.

The city is currently on track for another year of violence in 2023.

Two people were killed and two others were injured in separate shootings that took place in the vicinity on Saturday.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott reports they were multiple 911 calls made for help and two times they shoed up to scenes where people were shot dead.

Dayton Police officers responded around 5:50 am Saturday to an apartment building on Danner Avenue in Dayton and discovered a man had been killed.

According to a spokesperson, CPR was performed on the victim by medics once officers had secured the scene.

Sergeant Creigee Coleman confirmed that the victim was unable to survive their injuries.

According to information News Center 7 from Dayton Police and regional dispatch, the victims died at the scene.

Just two miles from the scene, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch received a 911 emergency call a couple hours later.

“I see a bullet casing,” callers said to dispatchers in a 911 call obtained by News Center 7. “A bullet injury in the back.”

McDermott reported that an Uber driver dialed 9-1-1 to report the body found on West Third Street.

“A male who appeared to be deceased possibly from some wounds from a gun,” said Sergeant Creigee Coleman, Dayton Police Department.

McDermott stated that these were not the only shootings of Saturday. A man was shot in the leg at the intersection of W. Fifth Street & S. Main Street in the early morning hours. He called 9-1-1 overnight.

“Yeah, I definitely got hit,” the caller told 9-1-1 dispatchers in a call News Center 7 obtained.

According to dispatchers, the man was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and then treated on the spot. News Center 7 reported that the man was later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital for more care.

According to reports, the suspect fled before officers arrived.

A man was shot in the chest by someone in East Dayton’s 100 block, in the afternoon.

“He’s in pretty serious condition,” said Sergeant Eric Brown, Dayton Police Department. “He was taken to the hospital.”

McDermott claims that in 24 hours, McDermott has reported that two tour participants were killed, one critically hurt, and another was injured.

Dayton Police confirmed that the shootings are not connected.

“Two or three shootings in one day,” Brown said. “That is abnormal for any police department or city of this size.”

McDermott reported that gun violence has claimed the lives of three more people in Dayton since the start of the year.

Two young men were killed and two more injured at the Desoto Bass apartment building in Oldfield Ave.

“I’m going to continue to live my brother and his best friend,” said Jaylise Anderson, the victim’s sister, on January 5. “Because they always came to me, every call.”

A man tried to rob a Harrison Township cell phone store at the 3800 block North Dixie Drive, but was shot and killed five days later.

“I’ve got an armed robbery,” a caller told 911 dispatchers on January 10. “There’s a guy downstairs.”

This brings the city’s death toll to five just 14 days into the New Year.

McDermott states that of the many shootings Saturday, only one arrest was made.
