Antoine Walker is a career-high 49; Day Marquis Daniels, Todd Day are born
Antoine Walker, a former Boston Celtics forward, scored a record 49 points on this day in 1998. The Celtics drafted the Chicago native out of Kentucky. Walker tried to help the Celts beat the Washington Wizards. This saw a struggling Boston team lose 110 points and 108, while the club went 36-46 that season.
Walker, who shot 21 of 36 that night, tried to carry the team as he did all that year, but could not bring much joy to one of the darkest eras in Boston’s storied history – that night or that year.
Despite this — or perhaps because of it –Walker remains a fan favorite to this day.

It is the birthday day of Todd Fitzgerald Day (ex-Celtic shooting guard), who was born in Decatur, Illinois, on this date in 1970.
He played NCAA basketball for Arkansas Razorbacks, and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks eighth overall in the 1992 NBA Draft. He would play for the team for three seasons, before being traded to Alton Lister for Sherman Douglas in 1995.
Day would play two seasons with the Celtics. He averaged 13.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, as well as 1.4 assists, before leaving Boston for the Miami Heat.

It is also the birthday ex-Celtic wing Marquis Antwane Daniels who was born in Jupiter in Florida in 1981.
Daniels, a nondrafted Auburn player, played for both the Dallas Mavericks (Dallas) and Indiana Pacers (Indiana), before signing with Boston in 2009.
The Florida native would play three seasons with the Celtics — interrupted briefly by a trade to the Sacramento Kings, for which he played no games, oddly — averaging 4.9 points, 2 boards, and 1.3 assists per game.
