Before you say it, no the Steelers shouldn’t trade for Derek Carr

When a player becomes available, there’s always a section in Steelers fanbase that needs to voice support for the Steelers signing or trading them. There is uncertainty about the backup quarterback position in 2023, so the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback will likely be the next name. Derek Carr.

Vic Tarfur, Raiders writer, said that Carr will be released by the Raiders after February 15, if they cannot find a trading partner. Carr’s contract includes a no-trade clause.

Is the Steelers going need a backup quarterback for their team? They might. Mason Rudolph is an unrestricted agent. Mitch Trubisky appears like a good candidate to free up salary cap funds. But Carr isn’t the answer if that happens. No matter where he lands, he’s going there expecting to be the starter and to get paid like the starter. Pittsburgh’s future is bright with Kenny Pickett at quarterback so the team is under no pressure to jump to any conclusions.
