WarHawks die to Blizzard’s early goals

Dec. 15—WILLMAR — The Alexandria Blizzard scored a flurry of goals in the first period en route to a 7-3 NA3HL victory over the Willmar WarHawks on Wednesday.

After taking a lead of 4-1 into intermission, the Blizzard forced Willmar to make goalie changes at 17 minutes, 38 second of the first period.

In the first period, Alexandria scored four of its first goals. Ethan Moerke, the Blizzard’s goalkeeper, scored two goals. The other two goals were scored by Justin Wasvick and Ryan Hadland.

Hadland’s 18th score of the season was his. He is tied for No. He is ranked No. 10 in NA3HL goals.

Gunnar Sibley, WarHawks forward, scored all three Willmar goals on his way to a hat-trick. In 24 games, he’s had five goals and seven assists. Tyler Misialek, forward Denys Honcharenko, and Tyler Misialek each had an assist.

Alexandria scored three goals within a span of 1:33 in the second half to secure its victory. Wyatt Johnson, Matt McIntyre (Sean Kenny) and Matt McIntyre scored the goals. Kenny’s goals were scored on a man advantage.

Kyle Abrahamson, goaltender for the Blizzard, made 26 saves on 29 shots to win the victory.

This season, Alexandria has a record of 4-1-0 against the WarHawks.

Willmar hosts the Mason City Toros Friday at 7:10 pm at Willmar Civic Center. This season, Mason City is 3-1 against the WarHawks.
