Bridgestone will showcase its vision for sustainable mobility at CES 2023

  • Bridgestone will demonstrate its commitment to sustainable mobility by enabling material circularity, product performance and on-demand services for personal or fleet mobility.

  • The company’s presence at CES®1 The 2023 theme centers around three themes: tire recycling and renewable natural rubber, “Smart Corner” digitally connected tires, air springs for electric vehicles and digital concierge for fleet and personal vehicle management.

  • CES 2023 is the first time Bridgestone will showcase its vision for the full product life cycle—from manufacturing to ownership to end-of-life material circularity—as a demonstration of the Bridgestone E8 Commitment to becoming a Sustainable Solutions Company.

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Bridgestone It will present its vision for sustainable mobility at 2023 Consumer Electronics Show. Las Vegas From January 5-8. Three key themes are the focus of the company’s presence during CES 2023:

Bridgestone's Smart Corner solution is a demonstration of the ability to enhance the performance, comfort and efficiency of electric and autonomous vehicles, while maximizing the lifespan of tires and air springs.

Bridgestone’s Smart Corner solution shows how electric and autonomous vehicles can be made more efficient, comfortable, and efficient, as well as extending the life of tires and air springs.

  • Recycle tires and natural rubber Guayule, a natural rubber from the U.S. that can be found in domestic sources, is made from desert shrubs in the arid areas of the country. MexicoBridgestone has also co-developed tire recycling technologies as part its EVERTIRE INTIATIVE.

  • “Smart Corner” digitally connected tires, air springs and tires for EVs Sensor-enabled tires, air springs, and other technologies can improve vehicle performance, safety, and comfort.

  • Digital concierge for personal or fleet vehicle management Vehicle owners and operators have access to online vehicle management tools that allow them to manage their vehicles according to their schedules.

The delivery of sustainable mobility requires each stage of the tire and rubber product’s life—from manufacturing and ownership to maintenance and end-of-life material circularity—to consider the most responsible processes and tools for each step. Bridgestone will be demonstrating its vision of carbon-neutral transportation by displaying end-to-end tire ownership, vehicle management and maintenance experience at CES.

A Sustainable Tire

Bridgestone has set a goal to increase the use of renewable and recycled materials to 40% by 2030, and to reach 100 percent sustainability by 2050. The company will display key elements of the sustainable and circular economy at CES.

Natural rubber can be obtained from a renewable source. guayuleNatural rubber has properties comparable to those derived from Hevea. Guayule is an American desert shrub. It can be found in the U.S. in arid areas. Mexico This crop requires 40% less water that cotton and alfalfa grown in the American Southwest. The company has made more than $100 Million Guayule-derived natural Rubber, currently owns a 281-acre farm, a pilot plant for bio-processing and several grower partnerships. Bridgestone is currently working with local farmers to teach them irrigation and climate-smart agriculture techniques to adapt to the changing environment. The goal is to plant more than 25,000 acres in guayule by the end of this decade.

Bridgestone’s announcement of its 2022 plans was made in the early part of 2022. EVERTIRE INTIATIVE The company is focusing on the recycling and production of new tires from tires that have reached the end of their useful lives. This global collaboration allows the company to work with partners in developing new tire recycling technologies. This includes the bioprocessing end-of-life tires using a fermentation process. These materials can be re-used in the production of new tires.

The Autonomous and Electric Future: Enabling Autonomy and Electricity

Bridgestone Smart Corner is an example of how electric and autonomous vehicles can be made more efficient, comfortable, and efficient, while also increasing the life expectancy of tires and air springs.

The combination of premium Bridgestone tires combined with the latest technology from Bridgestone is the solution. Firestone Airide (previously Firestone Industrial Products), air springs specifically designed for electric and autonomous vehicles. Bridgestone’s Smart Corner solution utilizes embedded sensors that are cloud-connected in the tires and airsprings. This allows Bridgestone to provide real-time and predictive insight that improves safety, efficiency, and productivity. Bridgestone ENLITEN EV Concept Tire uses new materials that can be both renewable and energy efficient. This reduces rolling resistance, which will increase battery range and meet the demands for higher loads as well as wear resistance.

To maximize efficiency and ride quality, the ENLITEN EV Concept Tire can be paired with Firestone Airide Concept EV Air Springs. The digitally connected airspring will adjust to dynamic loads, enabling active suspension systems to further isolate vibration, noise and harshness while optimizing safety and efficiency without compromising ride comfort. This air spring can be used to optimize aerodynamic efficiency, increase user accessibility, and protect underfloor components in both urban and off-road environments.

The ENLITEN EV concept tire and Firestone Airide Concept EEV air spring have integrated sensors that measure temperature, air pressure and accelerometer data. This data, combined with Bridgestone’s data analytics technology, allows native vehicle systems to be informed with real-time estimates of corner loading, road surface conditions, and the tire and spring’s performance capabilities. These digitally enabled insights enable Bridgestone mobility solutions and Bridgestone to anticipate vehicle needs, connect customers directly with services that improve productivity and convenience, prolong product life, and ensure sustainability for a zero-emission, low-carbon future of mobility.

Empowering the Owner of the Vehicle

It is crucial to ensure vehicle longevity, health, performance, and efficiency. Bridgestone Fleet Care integrates data-connected tires and on-board vehicle systems in order to empower or automate vehicle care. It doesn’t matter if you have a single car or a fleet of delivery vans. The fleet care solution integrates seamlessly with vehicle systems to collect data for routine maintenance, service requirements, and tire wear predictions.

The data can be used to determine the vehicle’s current needs and offer service options. The fleet management solution connects to a network that includes independent and company-owned service providers. This allows vehicle owners to decide which services they want to perform on their terms. It is easy to pay digitally. All services can be reconciled using a single payment option.

This platform allows fleets to be more efficient, productive, and economically profitable. Bridgestone hopes to offer the same premium, personal service and personalized value to both the family fleet as well as the fleet of one. Bridgestone offers a new customer experience by providing solutions that make vehicles and fleets more efficient, while still keeping us on our journey.

Bridgestone Sustainable Mobility Vision Supports Bridgestone’s E8 Commitment To realize a sustainable society, it consists 8 Bridgestone-like Values that begin with the letter “E”.
