Brook Lopez and Gary Trent Jr. take part in a Raptors’ physical
On Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum, the Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks were at it again. Toronto fell in a 130-122 win.
The Bucks reacted to the home crowd and held on to the win, despite the loss of Giannis Antetokounmpo/Khris Middleton. Jrue holiday was responsible for most of the offensive work, scoring 37 and shooting 16-for-25. Grayson Allen scored 25 points and made four three-pointers. Brook Lopez was responsible for 19 points.
Fred VanVleet was the Raptors’ leading scorer with 39 points. He made six field-goals and took six shots from behind the arc. Gary Trent Jr. produced another stellar performance with 28 points. Pascal Siakam had 23 points and nine boards.
The game came to an abrupt halt in the fourth quarter. Brook Lopez and Trent Jr. got in trouble in the paint. It prompted a bench clearing scuffle.
Lopez evidently held Trent Jr. hostage and forced him from the floor to the crowd, pulling off and throwing the guard’s capband. Siakam and O.G. Anunoby came to their teammate’s defense, getting in between the standoff before the rest of the players on the floor — as well as the Raptors’ bench — rushed in to break up the scuffle.
Lopez was clearly upset during the altercation. However, Raptors star Michael Jordan was able to maintain his cool and stay at a distance.
The video review showed that the Bucks big man received a double technical foul. He was then ejected. Jamaal Magloire was the Raptors assistant coach and Anunoby were each awarded a tech.
Lopez expressed concern about the play after his first career ejection.
“I don’t believe the refs can get it right. If they’re not going to get the right score during the game, then why will they get it right when replaying it?” He said. “It’s just what it is. They make mistakes as well. They made errors tonight.”
