Rumours have surfaced that there is tension between the two TV presenters after several on-air interactions, including Kirkwood mispronouncing Munchetty’s name.

In November 2022, the weather reporter stated live on the program: “The winds will become lighter with just a few rains coming in from north-west and temperatures ranging between nine and 13 degrees, Nana.”

Kirkwood quickly added: “Naga, sorry, we’ve got a producer called Nana.”

Munchetty replied, “You always say that.” You are welcome to come visit me and we can have a cup together.”

Munchetty accused Kirkwood, on Christmas Day, of being “stern” over her weather report.

She said, “Carol… It’s not allowed for us to ask about snow on Christmas Day. Every time I ask, you kind of give me that very stern look. Doesn’t she?”

Munchetty made a joke about Kirkwood’s aging when the first coins featuring King Charles III’s face were released in December.

The BBC Breakfast host remarked: “There’s the nostalgia. “Carol, do you know that feeling?

“Do you remember you’d get really excited because you’d have a new picture of the Royal Family or a special minted coin. You’d be excited about it and you’d keep it and not spend it.”

Kirkwood replied: “That’s absolutely right and when the new coins came out as well I remember that.

“We lost the thrup’nny bit and we picked up a half pence and a one pence.”
