CB Dontae was placed on IR

The 49ers placed Dontae Johnston, veteran cornerback, on IR Tuesday after he suffered an ACL tear against the Buccaneers. His season is finished.

In a similar move, San Francisco added Mike Dwumfour, a defensive lineman to their practice squad.

While Johnson was injured as a member of the active roster, he was up for Sunday’s game on a standard elevation. He reverted to the practice roster after the game. This is why his placement in IR created a vacancy on that practice squad.

Dwumfour, an undrafted agent and Jets free agent, joined the NFL in 2021. Dwumfour was released at the end camp and joined the Texans practice team. He was eventually able to make it to the active roster and appeared in three games last year. He had five tackles, two for loss, and 0.5 sacks. He saw action in seven games for Houston this year and recorded six tackles as well as three QB hits. Before Week 14, he was fired by the Texans.

Dwumfour, with their weak defense line, could be seen in action as soon as this week.
