Celtics beat Hornets 122-106, Malcolm Brogdon scores 30, off the bench

The Boston Celtics won a convincing comeback victory on Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets, 122-106. This was thanks to big nights from Jayson and Malcolm Brogdon. Boston improves to 31-12 on the season, and now rides a six-game win streak into Monday’s rematch against Charlotte.

Jaylen brown was out of the Celtics’ game, while Derrick White had to leave early due to injury. The visiting team appeared a bit confused early on, which allowed Charlotte a 16-point advantage by the end of the second quarter.

However, the Celtics led in the third quarter. Jayson Tatum was the usual leader, scoring 17 points in the final quarter. He finished the game with 33 points, 9 rebound and 6 assists.

Al Hoford and Payton Preitchard made significant contributions to Boston. Malcolm Brogdon was particularly impressive, finishing the night with 30 points as well as 3 assists.

This was the first of two Boston games that were scheduled to take place in Charlotte this weekend. The Celtics will play the Hornets again Monday afternoon as part of the NBA’s MLK Day showcase. Here’s what you missed from Saturday’s action.

Bill Russel’s performance in the middle of the game was celebrated by The Hornets

Only regular season games against lottery groups are so important. It is January, even though it sounds a bit simplistic. Charlotte’s small ceremony may have been the most significant story of the night.

The Spectrum Center will soon be home to a banner dedicated to Bill Russell, which was unveiled by the Hornets after the first quarter. Russell’s No. Although 6 was officially retired by league officials prior to the season began, Charlotte was a little more involved. bit further We honor his legacy.

“Bill Russell was a pioneer,” Hornets owner Michael Jordan said after his passing this summer. “As a player, as a champion, as the NBA’s first Black head coach and as an activist. He set the example for all Black players to follow him in the league. The world has lost a legend.”

You might want to be more attentive about your health.

Jaylen brown was out of the Celtics’ lineup. He’ll miss the next few games with an ailing groin. Jayson Tatum’s hand has been bothering him. He’s nursing multiple injuries At the moment. Derrick White quit the game before it was over with a neck sprain.

At the time of this writing, there’s no update on White, though neck injuries usually demand a conservative approach. Brown will hopefully be back for Boston’s home game against the Golden State Warriors this Thursday, but that remains to be seen.

Jayson Tatum’s hand injuries are also worth closely monitoring. His wrist, thumb and finger are now all off the mark. (Tatum did not suffer any major night injuries.

Again, the supporting cast played an important role

Jayson Tatum may have stuffed the stat sheet, but he wasn’t dominating wire to wire. His hand injuries may have caused him to look uncomfortable at times.

That Boston’s role players stepped up to erase a big deficit is worth celebrating.

Brogdon finished as the team’s second leading scorer and was a key stabilizing force for the offense throughout the game. Pritchard, who scored 9 points in the game, was the key spark from the bench. Al Horford had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Celtics may not have any business being so dependent on a team such as the Hornets. It is important to see the support cast take over the reins. Brown will be absent for the next few games. Tatum may decide that he needs more attention.
