Colts move up for QB Bryce Young, according to Draft Wire mock
There will be several stories to follow in the Indianapolis Colts offseason. The most important will be the one at the quarterback position.
All signs point to the Colts drafting a quarterback in 2023 NFL draft at this point of the offseason. They will likely move up to No. The biggest question is whether they will be ranked as the No.
In Draft Wire’s latest mock draftThey then made that move to Bryce Young as the first overall pick.
“Now that the Bears have the No. They have the No. 1 pick. The Bears can choose to keep it and take one or both of the defensive prospects that are worthy of the spot, or to auction it off to the highest bidder wanting to go up for a quarterback. The Colts are the best trade partner. They leapfrog the division-rival Texans in order to secure the top passer in this draft. It’s likely to cost them a couple of future first-round picks, as well as their second-rounder in this year’s draft, and maybe more.”
Young appears to be the top-rated quarterback candidate. He’s an electric playmaker, especially out of structure, but his size is going to be a major concern for a lot of teams.
It wouldn’t be surprising if there’s a bidding war for the No. The No. 1 overall pick. If the Colts want to retain the quarterback they love, they will need to move up. Houston Texans are the current No. The No. 2 overall pick.
There are still some wild cards. The Seattle Seahawks (No. The Detroit Lions (No. 6 overall) don’t necessarily need to draft a quarterback, but it can’t be dismissed out of hand that they won’t.
The Colts will first need to hire a head coach. They also have to figure out how to deal with their current quarterback room. Young is on the Colts’ board, though, as a potential draft option.
