Dayton police give new details about weekend stabbings and shootings

On Tuesday, Dayton police released new details on several crimes that occurred over the weekend.

According to Maj. Brian Johns of Dayton police, there were six incidents that involved eight victims. This included one fatal shooting and one fatal stabbing.

East Fifth Street Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in Oregon District on Saturday morning.

Johns reports that a man was waiting in line at the food truck when a shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m.

“Some people say something to him about cutting line, he then leaves, and the folks think its over,” Johns said.

Johns said that the suspect returned to Johns on foot and made his way to the front. Police believe the suspect is known to two women who were at the food truck. One attempted to stop him, but the other pulled out a gun and fired six shots at people in front, one of which was shot in the leg.

Tyshaun Wilson was identified by police Tuesday. He is believed to be driving a Buick Lacrosse 2014 that is gold-tan in color.

Wilson is still unknown and considered dangerously armed.

Wilson was photographed by police, along with photos of the wo women who appear to have known him.

West Third Street Shooting

Police are also investigating Saturday’s homicide.

Johns stated that a man went to the 3500 block West Third Street at 1 AM to meet someone. A suspect then shot him multiple times.

Uber driver, Marc Giles Sims, 34, found the victim around 9 a.m.

Police have not identified the suspect, but they described him as an adult male with a dark hoodie who was armed with a handgun.

Dover Street Shooting

After being shot in the chest in East Dayton on Saturday, a man was taken to hospital.

A shooting reported at 2:05 pm prompted police and medical personnel to rush to the 100 block Dover Street.

According to Johns, the victim, who was on house arrest for weapons charges, was involved in a “disagreement” with a man in a black car down the street.

Police say video shows the car drive by someone appears to fire one shot into the victim’s chest.

Johns stated that the victim is stable but in critical condition and will survive.

Ravenwood Avenue Double Shooting

Police are also investigating the double shooting that tookplace Sunday.

Johns reported the shooting just before 2 a.m. in Ravenwood Avenue. However, Johns stated that the shooting took place at Catalpa Drive, and W. Hillcrest Avenue.

Johns says that two men were riding in a vehicle. He also claims that a man approached them, and they shot into the vehicle.

One victim is stable and the other, who was hit in the head, remains in critical condition.

This case is still under investigation by police.

Shooting at West Grand Avenue

At 2:45 on Sunday, the incident happened in the 1700 block West Grand Avenue.

Johns claims that two men were involved with an altercation, and they shot at one another.

Johns reported that both were in stable condition and the one who was released has been released from hospital.

Danner Avenue Stabbing

One man was killed in a stabbing attack at an apartment complex in Dayton early Saturday morning after an altercation.

At 5:50 AM, the incident occurred in the 1000 block on Danner Avenue.

Johns says that a boyfriend was stabbed in his chest after an argument between him and his girlfriend. He fled outside, where he later died from his injuries.

Johns stated that the woman claimed that she had stabbed the man to protect herself.

She was taken into custody that morning, but she has been released.

Police arrived at the address around 11:13 p.m. Friday Jan. 13, after the man threatened suicide.

Tuesday saw the identification of Lawrence Bell, 27, from Dayton.
