Ed Sheeran documentary: His career so far
Ed Sheeran In The Sum Of It All, a new Disney+ film, the sum of it all, is more revealing than ever before.
Tying in with the release of his fifth album, Subtract (–), Sheeran is capping off a meteoric rise to stardom, becoming one of the UK’s most beloved popstars over the world.
But how did he achieve this? It took a lot to get there, including some hard work, friendships that were important, and secret struggles.
Ed Sheeran’s journey from being a busker in the UK, to a mega-star around the world.
Early Beginnings Sheeran’s family is artistic by nature. His father and mother are both artists, as is his older brother.
Sheeran was raised in Halifax and began his musical education at age four. He then studied cello, before beginning guitar lessons at age 11. He was also involved in Youth Music Theatre.
Double or Busk Sheeran began busking and performing at the age of 18 in London. He attended ACM Guildford after a failed audition for the CBBC musical drama Britannia High.
He left the band within a year to tour with Just Jack.

The couple’s close bond continued until Edwards’ sudden death in 2022. Sheeran is shocked at the loss. referring to Edwards as his brother.
The upcoming film is devoted to their friendship.
The A Team The A Team, which was part of his Loose Change album, began to gain popularity online in 2010. He went on tour soon after, with Example. Wiley, among others, is part of the 5 Collaborations EP.
In 2011, he signed with Atlantic Records and The A Team was released as the lead single. It reached No. 3 on the charts.
Plus (+): Sheeran released his first album Plus in September 2011. Drunk was one of the top 10 singles, as were Lego House, You Need Me, You Don’t Need You and You Are Not Needed.
It has been certified six times platinum. It also gained worldwide attention, as the use of YouTube and streaming grew.
Powerful collabs: Sheeran has always collaborated, but his tour and the single “Everything Has Changed” with Taylor Swift brought him mass attention.
He’s since performed with Beyoncé, Eminem and Rudimental.
Multiply by (X) X gave Sheeran’s first UK No.1 in 2014 with Sing. He opened the floodgates of multiple hits, including Don’t, Thinking Out Loud and many more.
He has also undertaken his own world tour, which included sold-out dates at Wembley Stadium. X was the first Australian album to receive a diamond certification.
Divide (÷): Sheeran’s return to social media coincided with the release of Divide in 2017.
It became record-breaking – causing the fastest-selling world tour of all time, and the first time in UK history an artist held the top two spots in the UK chart with Castle on The Hill and Shape Of You.
This was the first time that 10 songs were in the Top 10 of any album.
Legal Issues Sheeran was accused of plagiarism after the release of Divide song Photograph. Matt Cardle of the X Factor believed that his single Amazing’s chorus was similar to Sheeran’s. This was settled outside of court.

A lawsuit claiming Thinking Out Loud plagiarised Marvin Gaye He won the court case in 2022 after a legal battle in 2018. Shape Of You infringed “lines and phrases” The 2015 track Oh Why, by Sami Chokri & Ross O’Donoghue.
Equals (=): Equals is due in 2021. The release of Bad Habits, Shiver and other songs allowed him to be the first solo artist ever to reach 52 weeks on number one in his entire catalogue.
Shivers was his 11th song that has reached 1 billion Spotify streams.

The album was a significant change for his lyrics. It focused more on marriage and his new family.
Subtract (–): Sheeran released his fifth studio album in March 2023. This will complete the Calculations Collection and be available on May 5.
It is being accompanied by a four-part Disney Docuseries featuring Cherry Seaborn and his two daughters Lyra & Jupiter.
It also reflects on his career rise – and its highs and lows.
