Firefighters extinguish kitchen fire in northeast Jamestown

Aug. 3—JAMESTOWN — A fire took the lives of two dogs Friday, Aug. 2, in northeast Jamestown, according to Lt. Sheldon Mohr with the Jamestown Fire Department.

Four units and 20 firefighters responded to 115 6th St. NE at about 8:15 p.m. Friday to a report of a kitchen fire.

Mohr said firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for hot spots. He said firefighters ventilated the smoke out of the house.

Mohr said the most probable cause of the fire was the stove was accidentally left on.

No injuries were reported.

Mohr said the house is not inhabitable. He said the house was damaged from the heat and smoke.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene and helped the residents of the home find a place to stay.

Firefighters were on scene for about hour and a half.

The Jamestown Police Department also responded to the scene.
