Florida basketball remains steady in ESPN’s BPI update

Todd Golden’s gang has taken a big step forward in recent games having now strung three-straight wins together — in Southeastern Conference play, no less — to give the program a bit of buoyancy after struggling over the first couple of months of the season. The Gators now have a winning record against SEC competition of 3-2 and overall record of 10-7. They appear to be determined to earn a place in the Big Dance in March.

Before the Missouri Tigers’ home win on Saturday ESPN’s Basketball Power Index The Orange and Blue were ranked No. 36. That ranking remained the same in Sunday’s updated numbers; the Gators had jumped up seven spots in their prior movement.

Next up for Florida will be a rematch against Texas A&M Aggies — who rank No. 27 in the BPI — on the road in College Station on Wednesday, Jan. 18. TAMU won a win by three points over the Gators Jan. 4th in Gainesville. However, the Orange and Blue will have a chance to pay back starting at 7 p.m. EST. Gators IMG Sports Network.
