Foo Fighters will continue as a band even after Taylor Hawkins’ passing, and fans will be able to see them’soon.

“As our band says goodbye to the most tragic and difficult year, we are reminded how thankful we are of the people that we cherish most,” they posted an online statement.

The band — which lead singer Dave Grohl created following the dissolution of his group Nirvana after frontman Kurt Cobain’s death — noted that it was formed “27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life.”

Foo Fighters stated that they have built a worldwide community and a dedicated support system through their music.

Still, its members — Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, and Rami Jaffee — recognize that things won’t be the same without Hawkins, who joined the band in 1997, behind the drum kit. “Without Taylor,” they wrote. “And we know without Taylor that we’re going a completely different band going forward.”

They concluded that Taylor was as grateful to his fans as they were to him. “And we know that when we see you again — and we will soon — he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.”
