Giants beat Vikings by 31-24 in 1st playoff victory in 11 years

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Daniel Jones passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns and ran 15 times for 79 yards in his first career playoff game for the New York Giants, a 31-24 victory over Minnesota in the wild-card round that gave the Vikings their first loss in 12 one-score games this season.

Saquon barkley was able to rush for two points, including the tiebreaker at the end of the fourth quarter. After a three-yard catch by Kirk Cousins, the Giants’ defense won the first playoff victory since 2001. T.J. Hockenson was the Vikings’ tight end.

The Giants advanced to No. 2 with touchdown receptions by Daniel Bellinger and Isaiah Hodgins. Philadelphia will play No. 1 seed and its division rival Philadelphia in next weekend’s divisional round.

Cousins finished 31 for 39 with 273 yards and two touchdowns. The only mistake was his too-short throw towards Hockenson at end. Justin Jefferson, NFL’s most prolific receiver, finished with 47 yards and only one catch after the half.
