Giants attempt to retaliate for Vikings’ narrow loss

It’s hard for me to choose which playoff team received more disrespect this season: the New York Giants, or the Minnesota Vikings.

It was most likely the Vikings. Fans had to remind them every week that the division-winning Vikings had a negative points differential and a very unsustainable record when it came to close games. The Giants were reminded every week by the Vikings that their advanced stats didn’t show they were as good as their record. After a hot start, the Giants started to fall off and everyone stopped complaining about them.

Even though both teams were the subject of some ridicule during their successful seasons they may offer us the best wild-card matchup.

In Week 16, the first meeting between these teams was excellent. The Vikings scored just three minutes before the Giants tied the game with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. Minnesota then made a field goal of 61 yards as time expired, to win 27-24.

It was a very typical Vikings victory. They were closer than they had to have been before pulling out a win from the fire. The Giants outplayed Vikings for the majority of the game. They had 445 yards to the Vikings’ 353 yards. Minnesota was victorious thanks to two turnovers, and a blocked punt. That’s something you can’t count every week.

It is time for the Giants to rest. Last week, many key players sat alongside the No. The 6 seed was secured, which was smart. A pseudo bye week can be a nice gift at the end of a long season. With a slim chance of getting the No. 2, the Vikings’ starters played against the Chicago Bears for much of last week. 2 seed. While it won’t affect who wins, it gives the Giants a slight advantage.

The Giants are 3-point underdogs at BetMGM They’re mine, and they’re mine. The Giants have the potential to win the straight-up. While I don’t want the Vikings to be criticized, they have had a great season. However, we all know that this team isn’t a dominant one. The Vikings are not to be defeated. That was evident when the Giants demonstrated it a few weeks back. They might be able to finish the job this year.

These are the remaining picks against the spread in the wild-card round. We’ll save Monday’s Dallas Cowboys-Tampa Bay Buccaneers pick breakdown for Monday’s Daily Sweat.

49ers (-9.5), over Seahawks

Although regular-season meetings can’t always be predicted, they can give clues about the matchup. One of the most striking clues from the Seahawks-49ers game was the inability to move the ball on San Francisco.

The Seahawks gained just 216 yards in the first meeting. Their only point came from a blocked field goal. The Seahawks gained 277 yards in the second meeting. With 3:35 remaining and the 49ers leading 21-6, the Seahawks scored their only touchdown. The offense of Seattle was outmatched.

The 49ers have been fantastic lately. They have covered the spread in seven out of eight games. Only one of their last eight games was decided by less that eight points. Although it seems like a large spread for a playoff contest, Seattle hasn’t looked good in many weeks and 49ers are looking like Super Bowl contenders. Perhaps rookie Brock Purdy fails in his first playoff game. But you’ve already lost a lot, if Purdy is turning into a pumpkin. It might not happen this season.

Jaguars (+2) vs Chargers

It was somewhat surprising to see the Chargers open in favor. The Jaguars beat the Chargers 38-10 in Los Angeles earlier this season. The Jaguars have improved tremendously since then.

It’s nothing like the Chargers. advanced stats These are overly impressive. They have many stars and this has been evident at times. But not enough for them to be confident that they will make it to the playoffs. The Jaguars were jittery after their win over Titans, but that was their first big game. This week, they should gain from their playoff experience.

However, the Chargers’ decision not to play starters in Week 18, robbed them from the possibility of rest. Joey Bosa, Mike Williams and Joey Bosa appear to have escaped major injuries. However, it is possible that they are not 100%. Although the Chargers have many talented players, this could be their breakthrough. However, there are plenty of signs that Jacksonville is moving on.

Dolphins (+13) over Bills

This line rose after Tua tagovailoa was ruled ineligible, and it’s enough that Miami is now on the list. The possibility exists that Buffalo could beat the Dolphins. This is similar to how the Patriots beat Buffalo on wild-card weekend last year. The Dolphins beat Buffalo 21-19 earlier in the season. They were close to winning the Bills’ Wild-Card weekend, but lost 32-29 to them in Week 15. Skylar Thompson will be the quarterback, and Raheem Mostert, running back, will likely out with a broken thumb. But 13 points are a lot for playoff games.

According to StatheadThere have been 23 playoff games that had a spread of 13 or more points in the Super Bowl era and three since 2007. The bad news for Dolphins is that those underdogs are 9-14 versus the spread and just 2-21 up (the two wins: New York Jets Super Bowl III and New England Patriots Super Bowl XXXVI). While I understand that this game could become a mess and there has been a history of favorite teams of 13 or more, I must admit that I am happy to share the points with a Dolphins squad that has shown it is capable of competing with the Bills.

Ravens (+8.5) over Bengals

Without much information on the Ravens’ quarterback situation, it is difficult to take the Ravens seriously. This is a pick for Baltimore’s defense, John Harbaugh.

In both of their meetings against Cincinnati, the Ravens defense did well, even in Week 18. Cincinnati’s defense didn’t score a lot against Baltimore last week, despite having a big lead in the first half and having to close it down slightly afterward. Baltimore will fight, even without Lamar Jackson. Jackson is not expected to play. Jackson’s knee injury and the upcoming contract talks are another hot story. Tyler Huntley has an injured shoulder so Anthony Brown, an undrafted rookie could start. It’s scary to face a Bengals team like that. excellent against the spread this season. I believe blindly in the Ravens finding a way.

Last week: 9-7

Record for the final regular season: 138-127-4
