India’s 390-5 win by Kohli and Gill in the 3rd ODI

Virat Kohli, Opener Shubman Gill and Shubman Gill both scored fluent centuries as India posted 390-5 versus Sri Lanka to win the third one-day international.

Gill hit 116, then Kohli made an unbeaten run of 166 off 110 balls. This was his third consecutive ODI hundred in the four innings. It helped India to surpass the record in Thiruvananthapuram.

After India chose to bat first, the 131-run second wicket stand between Kohli & Gill stood out.

For the opening wicket, Gill scored 95 runs, with Rohit Sharma (42), to set the tone.

Rohit missed out on a fifty when he was defeated by Chamika Karunaratne, but Gill continued to attack Kohli and raised his second hundred in ODI. He celebrated it with a fist bump.

Gill beat Jeffrey Vandersay with four fours in the next over. But Kasun Rajitha soon got a slower delivery.

“King Kohli,” a new century partner with ShreyasIyer, who reached 38, went on to record the number with his arms raised and bat raised to a cheering crowd.

Before Kohli scored his hundred, the ball was in a terrible collision at the square-leg boundary of Vandersay and Ashen Bandara. Both fielders were left with severe injuries.

After his 46th ODI Century, Kohli was able to shift gears as he defeated Karunaratne in two consecutive sixes.

He reached his 150 in 106 balls and finished off with 13 fours and eight sixes.
