Idris Elba Shares New Teaser And Release Date For Netflix ‘Luther’ Movie
Idris Elba This week’s trailer shared a new teaser trailer as well as the release date. Netflix’s feature adaptation of his popular detective drama Luther. Below is the teaser.
The title of the pic is Luther: The Fallen Sun The teaser clip revealed that the film will debut in select cinemas starting February 24, and then on Netflix beginning March 10.

Elba is seen in the clip dressed up as his character. He appears just as the background track’s voice begins to speak.
“Somethings coming,” the voice says before adding: “You see me now?”
The film is directed by Jamie Payne, based on a screenplay from series creator Neil Cross. The film is billed as a continuation and reimagination of the BBC series, which cemented Elba’s status as a leading actor and scored 11 Emmy noms during its run.
The plot: A serial killer is terrorizing London and John Luther, a disgraced but brilliant detective, sits behind bars. Luther, haunted by his inability to capture the cyber psychopath taunting him, decides to get out of prison to finish the job.
Stars in the pic include Cynthia Erivo (and Andy Serkis), Dermot Crowley, and Martin Schenk (who returns)
The film is produced by Netflix in association with BBC. Cross and Elba, along with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping, are producers for Chernin Entertainment. Chernin Entertainment is represented by Dan Finlay as an executive producer, alongside Brendan Ferguson and Miki Emmerich, Kris Thykier, and Priscilla parish.
