Knicks, Nets trade deadline notes including latest on OG Anunoby
Here are a few notes to help you get started. Knicks And Nets At 3 p.m., Thursday, approach the NBA trade deadline
Many teams are still open to trading OG Anunoby. One of them is The Knicks.
To get Anunoby off the Raptors, it will require a lot of picks/players. The Knicks are as SNY reportedToronto had been informed earlier this season by, that they were happy to send three first-round picks to Anunoby. The 25-year old was still being pursued by members of the organisation as of Tuesday night.
Any team that acquires Anunoby will do so knowing that he can test free agency in 2024 (Anunoby has a player option in 2024 and it would be surprising if he didn’t exercise it). So teams would presumably have some assurances that he’d re-sign next summer before trading for him.
If the Knicks landed Anunoby, it’s fair to assume that he’d bump someone in the starting lineup. Sliders would be the best move. RJ Barrett You can shoot guard.
This scenario is called Quentin Grimes Would move to the bench.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There are many teams that are interested in Anunoby. It is unclear whether Toronto will be moving him.
WHAT IS THE STORY OF VANDERBILT & BEASLEY?
The Knicks did some research on Jazz players Malik Beasley And Jarred Vanderbilt. HoopsHype reported Beasley, Vanderbilt, and Obi Toppin These topics were addressed in trade talks between Jazz & Knicks.
Toppin is a possibility for the Jazz. But the Knicks’ interest in Beasley and Vanderbilt is less clear.
What we know: the interest in both players isn’t unanimous. A small number of basketball players see both players as a good fit. But others aren’t sure about the fit for either player with the current roster. At this time of the year, things can change at any hour. However, there was pessimism over the possibility that either player would make a deal by Tuesday night.
REDDISH INTEREST
The Putback noted that the Pistons as well as Nuggets are a popular choice. Cam Reddish recently. Between now and Thursday, the Knicks plan to try to move Reddish. As we mentioned in our mailbag last week, Reddish’s side expects him to be traded by the deadline and has no interest in the Duke product continuing to collect DNPs after the deadline if he is not traded.
RAPS HIGH ON CLAXTON
As recently as Monday, the Nets and Raptors had discussed possible trades. They will likely continue to communicate with each other ahead of the deadline. Notable: Some Raptors members have been insistent that Nic Claxton include the Nets in any important trade.
Claxton, obviously, has been a key part of the Nets’ success this season. He is a key part of the club’s future, it seems. The Raptors don’t have to trade a player like Anunoby or Pascal SiakamThey would appear to be the ones who have the upper hand in trade negotiations involving these players. Fred Van Vleet is a pending unrestricted agent. The Raptors are therefore less likely to have leverage in Van Vleet trade negotiations.
The one thing that had slowed down trade negotiations as of Tuesday night was? Kevin Durant’s uncertain status with the Nets.
Some teams stated that Durant’s presence had affected talks. Many teams are still waiting to see if Durant will be available for trade by the deadline. The teams are waiting to see what Durant’s intentions are before making any major decisions.
