Lampard will “go again” after Everton’s troubled crash, amid protests from fans

Frank Lampard maintained that he has the guts to fight Everton’s relegation battle despite their 2-1 defeat against Southampton. This was despite furious protests from fans.

Everton’s turmoil was brought to a head by the decision of its board of directors to leave Goodison Park this weekend because of perceived security threats.

Following offensive messages that included death threats to Bill Kenwright as chairman, the move was taken.

Officials at Everton called it “profoundly sad” and Lampard’s men wasted the lead that Amadou Onana’s goal for the Toffees had given them.

James Ward-Prowse scored two goals to bring Southampton level with Everton on points. Everton is only at the bottom on goal difference.

Everton has only managed one win in 11 league games and is at the halfway stage for a Premier League campaign.

This pathetic performance was an added bonus to the planned sit in protest that took place after the last whistle. Fans called for Farhad Moshiri’s sale, while Lampard was also demanded.

Lampard is determined not to give up on Everton. He narrowly avoided the drop last term when the Merseysiders had just 15 points.

“It had been a very difficult game and we lost. Lampard expressed frustration at losing, and frustration for everyone.

“I don’t know how to forget how to win. It’s obvious in football that losing games can make you feel low in confidence.

We could have stopped both their goals. It seems like a casual statement, ‘forgetting how win’. However, I see the point. We are in a period when we aren’t winning.

After Denise Barrett, Everton’s chief executive, was reportedly attacked by a fan after her 4-1 Brighton home loss, the threats were made to Everton’s directors.

Lampard, however, did not use that distraction to excuse himself.

It’s difficult. “I don’t have any thoughts in that I don’t want to comment about it on the backside of the game. I’m more concerned with the game and the fact that we didn’t lose it,” he stated.

“I can see the situation, I hear the noise, but I must keep working.

“The only thing I would suggest to Everton, and it is something that is very important to me, is for everyone involved in this team. We are passionate about what they do and want to succeed.

“We have to work in our own way to be the best. My way is to get up tomorrow and go, “OK, let’s go again!”
