Nicholas Lyndhurst has joined the cast of the Frasier sequel series — and British people are very surprised.

This will be the first appearance of Rodney Trotter, an actor who is a sittingcom legend due to his role in Only Fools and Horses. Kelsey Grammer In the Paramount+ show.

Lyndhurst and Grammer had previously worked together in West End casting of Don Quixote musical Man of La Mancha, but 2019’s Frasier marks Grammer’s first major role in an American sitcom.

In the new iteration of Frasier, Lyndhurst will play university professor Alan Cornwall — described in the official synopsis as “British, boozy and larger than life”.

The summary, as reported via Variety, continues: “Alan has an intellect on par with Frasier’s — if only he ever felt like using it.

“Alan’s mischievous streak might be just what Frasier could use to shake up his routine, while Frasier’s thoughtful guidance might help Alan find some of the direction he’s been missing in his own life.”

Lyndhurst who denied retiring from acting last yearHe is an actor who has appeared on many sitcoms, including Goodnight Sweetheart, After You’ve Gone and After You’ve Gone. His most prominent role was opposite David Jason’s Del Boy.

However, Grammer and his sudden move to American screens surprised many people who were confused by the news on Twitter.

Paramount announced that the sequel to Frasier was coming in February 2021. Grammer immediately confirmed his return as the psychiatrist Frasier crane.

Grammer is familiar with the role since 1983, after he played the same character in Cheers and Wings.

The star has been keen on a revival Paramount+ finally gave the green light to the project through writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother), and Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”).

The original version of the sitcom is still a success, winning critical acclaim as well as 37 Emmy Awards.
