Notre Dame to Play at Fenway Park This Year

Notre Dame baseball will be playing in the cathedral of Major League Baseball this Spring.  The University of Notre Dame has released the following press release:

The Red Sox and Boston College have announced the 2023 Eagles’ ALS Awareness Game at Fenway Park will be played on Friday, May 19, on the first day of the three-game series between the Irish and Eagles. Notre Dame will face Boston College in the final series for the 2023 regular season, which takes place on May 18-20. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.

Boston College’s annual ALS Awareness game is in honor of former BC baseball captain Pete Frates, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 and tragically passed away in 2019 at the age of 34. Frates was the catalyst behind the viral Ice Bucket Challenge, which raised $220 million to fund research into ALS. They continue to honor Frates’ legacy and support those fighting ALS.

Tickets for general admission to the 2023 ALS Awareness Game will be available later. The Peter Frates Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports ALS patients as well as their families, will benefit from the proceeds of ticket sales.
