More information from Deadline

The series features Zach Barack and Emily Osment as the voices of Barney Guttman. Guttman is a gay transgender teen boy and finds a job as a Phoenix Park security guard. Norma Khan, a 17 year old autistic Pakistani American girl, is also part the security team.

The pair balance their summer jobs at a haunted house local to the theme park, while fighting supernatural forces within. Courtney, their guide to underworld multiplane and a thousand-year-old demon named Courtney are their challenges. They battle zombie mascots, demonic host games, sleep-sucking witches, and even their first crush.

Blink Industries produced the series. It premiered in June 2022 and a second season debuted in October.

Steele confirmed the cancellation on Twitter. He said, “It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you Dead End is over.”

“Obviously, we never wanted this to be the case. In fact, we did a writers’ room for season three. We have all the scripts, designs, and outline ready for use. It was always our intention to give these characters the ending they deserved. But sadly, the power that be don’t want any more,” he added. “Honestly, we were lucky to make it through everything happening in the last few years. Netflix is a wonderful network that allowed us to tell this story. I would like to express my gratitude. We made history together and I couldn’t be prouder of those twenty episodes and every single member of our crew.”

He thanked the fans and Netflix and added that is “working hard” on the third and final DeadEndia book, which he hopes will offer fans some “closure”.
