Paul George’s father chimes in on son’s free agency exit from Clippers
After five seasons playing for the Los Angeles Clippers in his hometown, Paul George bolted in free agency to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers were able to lure him to the East Coast on a 4-year $212 million deal and now have a formidable trio in the East with him joining Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
George went into full detail on why he left the Clippers in previous episodes of his podcast, “Podcast P with Paul George”, but in his latest episode, his father joined the podcast. Paul George Sr. gave his thoughts on his son’s exit from the Clippers:
It was hurting. It was like–I felt like they stabbed us in the back because I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team, as far the fanbase, the fans was there. He was there. I think he gave them 110% and what he was asking, it wasn’t a whole lot, but they saw something different. I didn’t want him just taking anything. His whole thing, he does stand up for what he believes in, and he felt that was a bunch of bull that they came at him with and I wasn’t going to sugarcoat it. ‘I’m behind you 100%. If you have to leave, you have to leave.’

George will make his first appearance back in LA on Nov. 6 when the Sixers take on the Clippers at the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood. It will be interesting to see how both the organization and the fans in LA receive him.
