According to survey results, cold weather is more appealing for sex.

According to a new survey, people are more likely than ever to have sex in cold weather. (Getty Images)

Cold weather is associated with cozying up with a blanket, a hot cup or tea, but did know that cold weather also means more sex.

A new survey revealed that nearly half of men (62%) as well as women (58%) feel ‘hornier” in cooler months than they do in summer.

Furthermore, 74 percent of couples say that they spend more time with their partner in winter which makes sex more likely.

According to the survey of 2,000 adults, IllicitEncounters.com32% of respondents believe that snow can be an aphrodisiac, making them feel more romantic and closer to their partner.

While some people receive more action from their partners while others are not, the survey found that many affairs peak during the winter months.

Nearly two-thirds of men (62%) said that winter is more common than summer. 58% of women agreed.

Yet, this wasn’t due to the cold weather but the fact that December means more parties and more access to booze, something that 67% of men and 62% of women admitted was a factor as to why they cheated.

Also, Christmas parties were cited as a reason behind the cheating. 42% of men said that it was easier to have an affair with someone they know than to socialize more with them at Christmas.

According to the affairs website, 2022 was the busiest year in the site’s two decades of existence, with an 18% increase in affairs.

It cites a reaction to coming out of pandemic lockdowns as a possible reason for the increase in cheating, as “cheaters return to their old ways and seek new partners”.

“It is very much a case of season’s cheating at this time of year because most of us desire sex more when the weather is cold and affairs rocket, too,” Jessica Leoni, sex and relationship expert with IllicitEncounters, said.

“Heat in the summer can make us feel lethargic and sleepy whereas the cold brings us close together in the evenings in front of the TV and at bedtime when we cuddle up. Making love is the most natural way in the world to stay warm in this bitter weather.”
