Lightning win 4-2 against Blues because of Point’s two goals

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Brayden Point had two goals and an assist, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Alex Killorn, Nick Perbix, and Alex Killorn scored for the Lightning. The Lightning have won seven out of nine of their last nine games. Their record is now 26-2-1 with at least three goals. Andrei Vasilevskiy was the only player to allow three or more goals in four consecutive matches. He had 23 saves.

For the Blues, Tyler Pitlick and Pavel Buchnevich scored. Jordan Binnington, who is tied with Grant Fuhr for fourth in franchise history, had 26 saves.

Pitlick scored on a breakaway to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead at 2:39 in the first period. Pitlick took an Alexey Toropchenko pass in stride, and beat Vasilevskiy using a wrist shot through five holes.

Point scored the second and third goals to increase their lead to 2-1. After Perbix had fed him with 7:38 remaining in the first, Point one-timed his puck in the slot. He then added a power play goal via a backdoor tap in with 3:17 left. He scored 25 goals in the season.

St. Louis scored one, while the Lightning scored twice during the second period.

Perbix hit a slap shot from the right point, giving Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead at 7:16.

St. Louis pulled within a goal when Buchnevich scored at 6:05, but Killorn restored the lead with 2:38 remaining on a backdoor tapin.

BLUES HALL of FAME CLASS

The inaugural class of St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame received a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game. A dinner was also held for them Friday night. Red Berenson and Scotty Bowman were among the members of the inaugural Blues Hall of Fame Class. Glenn Hall, Brett Hull and Dan Kelly were also honored.

ICE CHIPS

Saturday saw Blues D Nick Leddy return to the lineup. Leddy had been out of action since Jan. 5, when he was against New Jersey. He also missed four games due to an upper-body injury. Leddy played in 39 games with 11 assists and no goals this season. … The Blues sent Dmitri Samorukov, the AHL’s Springfield player, to replace Leddy. Blues traded Edmonton for Samorukov on Oct. 9, acquiring Samorukov, 23.
