Poland to ask Germany for go-ahead to ship tanks to Ukraine
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland will ask Germany for permission to ship Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki mentioned Monday.
Morawiecki did not specify when the request shall be made. He mentioned that Poland is constructing a coalition of countries able to ship Leopards.
Even when there isn’t a permission from Germany, Warsaw will take its personal selections, he mentioned, with out elaborating.
German Overseas Minister Annalena Baerbock advised French TV channel LCI on Sunday that Poland hasn’t formally requested for Berlin’s approval to share a few of its German-made Leopards, however added “if we had been requested, we’d not stand in the way in which.”
Concerning Baerbock’s feedback, Morawiecki mentioned that “exerting strain is sensible” and that her phrases are a “spark of hope” that Germany might even participate within the coalition.
