Russia High School is in the semifinals of the boys basketball tournament

Russia High School’s run in the boys basketball tournament ended Friday night losing to Richmond Heights, 66-51, in the Division IV state semifinals.

Brayden Monnin was the Raiders’ leading scorer with 20 points, while Hayden Quinter had 17.

Russia scored 19 of 38 shots. This is good for half-off, but Russia committed 22 turnovers.

The Spartans had four players who scored double figures and made 23 out of 47 shots.

Dorian Jones scored 17 while Hosea Stahle, Junior added 16.

Russia led 13-8 at the end of one quarter, and was trailing 27-25 at halftime.

The Raiders were unable to keep their feet on the ground and trailed by 39-38 in the final quarter. But Jones’ dunk put the Spartans ahead, 41-38, after three.

Richmond Heights opened the fourth half outscoring Russia by 13-4. This pushed the advantage to 54-40 and has not looked back.

Richmond Heights will be hosting the Spartans Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
