Sean McVay expected to make ‘multiple changes’ to offensive staff

The 2022 season for the Los Angeles Rams was a disappointment, not just Sean McVay. He called their 5-12 season a “professional failure” on his part, but he wasn’t solely to blame for their struggles.

McVay will be back with the Rams in 2023, but McVay’s coaching staff could change. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPNMcVay is expected make several changes in his offensive coaching staff.

McVay will immediately address his coaching staff. Sources claim that McVay will likely make multiple changes to the offensive staff.

The Rams already saw Liam Coen, who was the offensive coordinator for three years, leave. Now they will be returning to Kentucky. Mike LaFleur is reportedly joining the Rams’ staff, though it’s not clear what role he’ll have or whether he’ll be the new offensive coordinator.

Thomas Brown, McVay’s assistant head coach and TEs coach, could also be on his way out after landing an interview with the Texans. He’d be a big loss for the Rams as an up-and-coming coach in L.A.

Offensive line coach Kevin Carberry, offensive assistants Nick Jones and Zak Kromer, senior offensive assistant Greg Olson, QBs coach/pass game coordinator Zac Robinson and WRs coach Eric Yarber are all on McVay’s staff offensively.

Jake Peetz, another offensive assistant, was expected to become Nebraska’s QBs coach back in November but he decided to stay with the Rams. It remains to be seen if he’ll be kept on McVay’s staff, however.
