Shakira ignites social media with song haranguing ex Pique

Colombian singer Shakira ignited social media with her new song. In it, she targets Gerard Pique, a former Spanish footballer, and takes aim at him once more.

The song “BZRP music Session #53”, which was played 34 million times in 17 hours, generated a flood of comments.

The 45-year old music star is not afraid to take aim at her ex-partner, 35-years-old. She even took a swipe at Clara Chia, his girlfriend of 23 years.

She sings, “Lots and lots of gym work, but also work your mind,”

She continues, “You swapped Ferrari for a (Renault] Twingo, a Rolex to a Casio,”

“I would not go back to your, even if I cried or begged you… You were out of my league, and that’s why I am with you.”

Shakira also includes word plays that use the names Clara and Pique to clarify who the song is aimed at.

A publicity campaign was launched to promote the track. It featured an airplane flying above Mar de Plata in Argentina, dragging a banner with a line from the song.

The song became a trending topic on social media where Shakira has many millions of followers.

This is her third dedication to the couple’s split, which she announced in June.

They were together for over a decade, and they have two sons, Milan, nine years old, and Sasha (seven).

They did not get married and Shakira didn’t share her $300 million fortune with Pique.

After an 18-year glory-filled football career, he decided to retire in November. He was able to invest in many multi-million dollar business ventures.

Shakira, who had hoped to relocate with her two children to Miami, was instead ordered to appear in Spain as a witness for tax fraud.

Prosecutors are asking for an eight-year sentence with a fine of 24,000,000 euros ($26 million), in exchange for the evasion of 14.5 million euros of taxes between 2012 & 2014.

Pique was convicted of tax fraud and ordered to pay the tax bureau 2.1 million euros.

“You left my… with the media at the door, a debt to treasury and a press credit, you thought you had hurt me and made me tougher. Women don’t cry any longer, they pay,” Shakira sang, who denied all of the accusations against her.
