Steve Burns: Fellow Blue’s Clues Host Donovan Patton Taken Care of Steve When He Got COVID

Blue’s Clues Stars Steve Burns Donovan Patton Have each other’s backs.
The original host of the popular children’s show tells PEOPLE that Patton — who took the reins as Blue’s new pal Joe when Burns exited the series in 2002 — looked after him when he was sick with COVID.

Burns adds, “I know his family.” He took care of me during my COVID. He was pouring Gatorade down the hallway to his guest room.
When the two weren’t under the weather — Patton, 44, says he had COVID shortly before Burns contracted the virus — they were busy exploring New York City while filming the Blue’s Clues Paramount+ has released movie.

Burns describes their time in NYC as “romantic dates” and says that they had many. “We had a lot of fun. “Should we go to the Lebanese restaurants?” Let’s go back. We had a lot of fun.”
During their downtime they went back to the set to view Dela Cruz’s scenes.
Patton describes Dela Cruz as “a lot of fun” and says, “It’s been great to see what he can do.” “And then I was shocked in how that translated into the film, actually because it wasn’t clear to me how it would end when I saw it. It was amazing. Because this man is so talented, it filled me with pure jealousy.”

Dela Cruz (33), was the last leader man to join the Blue’s Clues He says that he felt loved by his family and was welcomed by Patton and Burns.

“Getting to know Steve & Donovan on an individual level beyond [their work] It was just so freaking cool that we were cut from the exact same cloth,” Dela Cruz explains to PEOPLE. “We are like cousins on the TV show. It’s almost like a family reunion every single time we get together. However, it’s still the family you love to be with.”
