Don’t leave me behind: Stories of young Ukrainian Survival Highlights two teenage stars Oleksra “Sasha” Kunitska, 18, and Daria “Dasha” Unger, 15, As they attempt to find some normalcy in their new lives, Poland Through volunteering, mental health support and family and friends, they can keep their hope alive for their loved ones, their homeland, and their future.

  • SashaThe former student of dance in Korea had dreams. He now teaches classes to refugees and works in a humanitarian center collecting and distributing resources, as well as translating.

  • DashaShe shares her horror at the invasion’s first morning with others. She attends group therapy along with other displaced teens, many of whom are forced to stay in by their fathers. Ukraine Fighting.

  • Ekaterina “Katya” Trofimenko, 32, As a refugee and Ukrainian psychologist, she provides psychosocial support for the thousands of children fleeing Ukraine. She also developed and oversees Dasha’s group in the local organization Your Development Foundation. The teenagers are able to see Katya interact with them, as her own stories of war allow her to process their experiences.
