Talita Bernardo, Ketlen Souza emerge as new champions

Invicta FC’s 2023 first event is complete.

Invicta FC 51 ReelWorks Denver presented an eight-fight program with two title fights at the top in the flyweight, bantamweight divisions.

The main event will be Taneisha Tennant (5-2) defended her bantamweight title as she faced UFC veteran. Talita Bernardo (10-4), who came in on a streak of three wins.

It was a tight bout that ended tied at 38-38. The final round was only five minutes long and the winner was determined. Bernardo leaned on her grappling game and controlled Tennant from top position for most of the last round, earning the judges’ favor.

Bernardo ends Tennant’s reign, becoming the new Invicta bantamweight champion, and extending her current win streak to four.

The co-main event featured the vacant flyweight title.

Ketlen Suza (13-3), outpointed, outgrappled and even opened a nasty cutting above Kristina Williams’ right eye (6-4) to win a unanimous decision. Souza, who is making her Invicta debut, begins a reign of flyweight champion while also increasing her win streak to five.
