Tom Brady appears to attempt to slide tackle Cowboys S Malik Hooker durant fumble recovery
On Monday, Tom Brady had a difficult night against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys took a 18-0 lead into the halftime matchup of their wild-card matchup after he threw an interception in the endzone. After an apparent third quarter turnover, he then slid feet first at a Cowboys’ defender.
The Buccaneers had a 24-0 lead in the second quarter. Tampa Bay’s receiver Chris Godwin appeared fumble the ball during a Brady completion. Cowboys safety Malik Hooker took the ball from Brady and returned it. Brady was able to slide feet-first into Hooker’s legs at the end of the return. Julio Jones then tackled Hooker.
Here’s a closer view.
Officials raised a flag to indicate that the play was not fair. Brady didn’t get the flag. Ryan Jensen, Bucs’ center, pulled the flag after he tussled with Dante Fowler Jr., Cowboys’ defensive end. Brady was not penalized and the game continued without any further consequences.
Officials looked over the play and found that Godwin was down before he lost the ball. The decision to declare a field fumble was reversed. Hooker wasn’t hurt in the play.
It was an unfortunate look for Brady, who was already having a terrible night.
