Trump loses second defamation lawsuit against rape victim

NEW YORK (Reuters – Donald Trump’s second lawsuit against E. Jean Carroll, a former U.S. President, was dismissed Friday by a federal judge. The writer accused of accusing him of defamation had claimed that he did not rape her in a Manhattan department store’s dressing room in mid-1990s.

U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, Manhattan, ruled that Trump’s argument about Carroll’s defamation suit was legally inadequate because Carroll failed to claim “special damages”.

He also rejected Trump’s argument, that Carroll’s claim in New York’s Adult Survivors Act had to be dismissed because it violated the due process clause.
