Vikings interview assistant Mike Pettine for DC emptiness

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings interviewed inner candidate Mike Pettine on Wednesday for his or her defensive coordinator emptiness.

Pettine served as assistant head coach this season underneath rookie coach Kevin O’Connell. The 56-year-old Pettine has 19 seasons of expertise as an NFL coach, together with three stints as a defensive coordinator with the New York Jets (2009-12), Buffalo (2013) and Inexperienced Bay (2018-20). Pettine was the pinnacle coach for Cleveland for 2 years from 2014-15.

O’Connell fired Ed Donatell after the Vikings ranked second-worst within the league in yards allowed and fourth-worst in factors allowed of their solely season collectively.

Two different defensive coordinator candidates have already interviewed with the Vikings: New Orleans co-defensive coordinator and line of defense coach Ryan Nielsen and Seattle affiliate head coach for protection Sean Desai.
