Wakanda Forever’ Lead With 14 Nominations
The Black Reel Awards has announced its nominations to their 23rd Annual Ceremony.
Gina Prince-Bythewood’s The Woman King, about the warrior women of the country of Dahomey, and Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThere are 14 nominations for the movie “The Hero from Wakanda”, which features a superhero and a tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Two other films joined the ranks of double-digit nominations: MGM’s Till and A24’s The Inspection.
A24, an independent studio received 11 nominations across all categories. Amazon Studios received three nominations for Outstanding Independent Film, a record. Master, Nanny and Emergency. The perennial powerhouse of Disney Studios was nominated for the most nominations among studios with 15.
Viola Davis was nominated for the Outstanding Actress Award for her role in In The Woman KingThis made her the most famous Actress in Black Reel Award Bolts history. Elegance Bratton, the director of Black Reel Award (Bolts) history, received four Bolt nominations. Prince-Bythewood wins her fourth Outstanding Director nomination and is now the most well-known Black Reel Award woman director. Two of her earlier films are here. The Secret Life of Bees And Love and basketball These wins were achieved.
Grammy and fashion icon Rihanna scored two Bolt nominations in the Outstanding Original Song category for “Born Again” and “Lift Me Up”—both from the Wakanda Forever soundtrack. For the first-ever time, all nominees for Outstanding Original Song were performed or at least partially written by women.
Michael K. Williams was nominated Outstanding Supporting Actor for Breaking. Gloria Foster and Chadwick Boseman were the other two recipients of posthumous acting nominations at the Black Reel Awards.
