WhatsApp users will soon have the option to decide when group chats should expire

A new feature is coming to WhatsApp that may be of interest to those who have created or joined WhatsApp group chats for one event but then forgotten to delete them for years. WhatsApp’s “Expiring Groups” feature, which allows you to set an expiration date for group chats according to a new iOS beta. WaBetaInfo.

A screenshot shows that the Expiring Groups option can be found in a group’s settings. It allows you to choose from a specific date, week or day. If you want to preserve the chat, then you will be able to cancel an expiration. Any expiration dates set will only apply to yourself and not other participants, apparently — so the group might continue to exist, just not with you in it.

WhatsApp doesn’t delete groups without notifying you. The description says that “you will receive a prompt to clean up groups after the expiration date.” Still, much like disappearing messagesIt should reduce clutter in your account, and it will save you some storage space.
