Young scores 29, Murray 27, as Hawks defeat Raptors 114-103

TORONTO (AP) — Trae Young scored 29 points, Dejounte Murray had 27 and the Atlanta Hawks never trailed in a 114-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.

Onyeka OKongwu scored 10 and grabbed 13 rebounds. AJ Griffin was on the bench and scored 13, as the Hawks won their third straight game after losing five of six. Atlanta defeated Indiana on Friday with a last-second basket from John Collins.

In the Eastern Conference standings, Ninth-place Atlanta finished one game ahead Toronto (10th). To win the series, the Hawks won the third regular-season meeting with the teams.

Toronto’s Scottie Barnes was the star with 27 points, 12 rebounds and Pascal Siakam had 15 points.

O.G. Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa each scored 14 points, and Chris Boucher had 13, but the Raptors couldn’t extend their season-high three-game winning streak.

Fred VanVleet, the Raptors’ guard, shot 1 for 9, and ended with three points. Gary Trent Jr., his fellow starting guard shot 2 for 7, and scored seven points. They went 1-8 from the 3-point line. VanVleet took over after Siakam left. Trent didn’t play in the fourth quarter.

Boucher hit a three-pointer with 3:14 left in the fourth quarter. This cut it to 107-100%. However, Siakam was unable to stop Young from driving the ball on the next possession. Atlanta was up nine at 2:48. Young made both free shots.

Atlanta took a lead of 20-3 after Toronto missed 12 field goals. However, the Raptors responded with eight of their next 10 field goals. After just one, the Hawks were leading 34-25.

Young and Murray had 16 points and six assists each in the second quarter. Atlanta led 69 to57 at halftime. To the fourth, the Hawks led 96-79.
