40 cars collided on an icy South Korean road, injuring dozens
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — About 40 vehicles collided on an icy highway near capital Seoul on Sunday and one person was feared dead dozens injured, officials said.
Officials at northern Gyeonggi Province’s fire department stated that there could be more injuries as rescue workers continue responding to Sunday’s accident on the Guri-Pocheon highway.
Kim Dongwan, a official with the department, stated that at most four motorists were currently in critical condition. One of these drivers was also taken to a hospital for cardiac arrest. He stated that 29 others suffered light injuries.
Ahn Jeonghee was another official with the department. He said that the accident was most likely caused by icy roads and snow.
