BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dec. 17, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Michael Martin has been appointed to take the helm at St Kitts and Nevis’ Citizenship by Investment Unit and lead the evolution of the country’s investment migration programme.

The twin-island nation has begun to improve its Citizenship by Investment Programme so that it can continue to be a benchmark in the global investor migration industry.

The Prime Minister welcomed Martin at an event at the Citizenship by Investment Unit and expressed his excitement as Martin’s appointment, which comes at a time when the country is evolving its Citizenship by Investment Programme so that it not only attracts intelligent investors but benefits local citizens as well.

Martin was also praised by the Prime Minister as a candidate who can help the nation realize its goal of creating a program that will lift the Kittitian, Nevisian societies through investment options that provide tangible value and enrich international investors.

At the briefing, the new Head of the Citizenship by Investment thanked the Prime Minister for trusting him with “this very important assignment” and expressed his excitement of taking on the new task.
 
Martin also stated that a situational analysis would be conducted to assess the status of the Unit and determine the best way forward to “maximize efficiency and effectiveness”.
 
“This is a very important operation for the development of the nation and the people of the county. We will need to rebrand the programme and refocus it, as well as define our strategic goals and create new investment options that align with those goals. ”
 
It is expected that the Citizenship by Investment Programme will undergo significant changes. Martin spoke out about the strategic plans that he has for the Unit and reiterated the fact that his focus is on improving the country. “We will be looking at emerging markets and redefining our target client. There must be some exclusivity to it,” he added.

St Kitts and Nevis welcomed a new administration in August who is working tirelessly to revamp the country’s citizenship by investment programme. The third iteration of the program’s evolution is now underway. After 40 years of research and development, the St Kitts and Nevis government is using creativity and braveness to ensure the programme reaches the modern age.

Martin is a Kittian who has strong financial skills and has extensive experience in compliance and strategic planning. Martin is considered the man who will bring more stability to CBI Unit. He will have greater administrative and legislative oversight.

Martin will manage a team consisting of focused and efficient experts. This will allow the programme to increase processing efficiency and accuracy. It will also maintain strong due diligence processes, so that only the most qualified investors are accepted.

Martin has held top management positions at several companies, including National Caribbean Insurance Company, National Bank Trust Company and Sagicor Life Inc. Martin was previously a director of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean and Honorary Secretary of the Brimstone Hills Fortress National Park Society Council of Management. He also served as a director of First Federal Cooperative Credit Union.

He has a degree from the University of Toronto.
