Chris Harris officially leaves the Commanders

Chris Harris served as the Washington Commanders’ defensive-backs coach for three seasons. Harris was appointed as the defensive backs coach for the Washington Commanders in December. departed the Commanders to take a role with the Tennessee Titans as their new passing game coordinator/cornerbacks coach.

Or did he?

Harris never officially left Washington, as he held a firm offer from the Titans he planned on taking if he didn’t land a defensive coordinator position elsewhere. Harris interviewed with both the 49ers and the Chicago Bears to be their secondary coach/passing games coordinator.

Harris also interviewed with the Houston Texans’ new head coach Demeco Rys to be their defensive coordinator. If Harris doesn’t land that job, he will start with the Titans immediately.

The Titans seem to be in limbo right now.

Washington has not yet announced Harris’ replacement, but it is likely that Harris will be replaced by someone within the organization. Richard Rodgers, assistant defense backs/nickel Brent Vieselmeyer, and Cristian Garcia, defensive quality control assistant could all be eligible for promotions. Garcia and Vieselmeyer were spotted together with Jack Del Rio, the Senior Bowl’s defensive coordinator.
