Rehashing other people’s tragedies for cheap

Glee’s Price There are many low points in this interview, but the most disappointing is the one with the man who calls himself a celebrity researcher.

In episode 2 of Investigation Discovery’s three-part schlockudrama, said researcher — who posts video tours of landmarks related to celebrity deaths on his YouTube channel — stands outside the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, where Glee Star Cory Monteith This was found dead in 2013. He repeats the facts about Monteith’s accidental overdose and then wonders aloud “Why did this celebrity relapse?”

The dude doesn’t know. Nor does Glee’s Price Have answers to any of the Glee-related subjects it examines so intensely: Monteith’s overdose Naya Rivera‘s drowning; Mark Salling‘s suicide; Melissa BenoistThe experience of’s as a survivor of domestic violence; Lea Michele“Difficult” has been the reputation of’s. The program is, as one would expect, a dull and mild exercise in misery, a rehash, of tragedy, told largely by talking heads and crew members and those who claim to be friends with the deceased. Rivera’s dad, George Rivera, is the only family member that appears in the series.

The first hour recaps the Glee The phenomenon began in spring 2009, when the show premiered. Combining news clips with footage from public events and fan-cam footage to create news clips. Glee’s Price This story documents the transformation of the cast from young, fresh-faced stars signing autographs at Hot Topic into international stars who couldn’t go anywhere without being mobbed and screamed by screaming fans. Season 3’s head of hair said that the cast became obsessed with who could get the most followers on Instagram. Unprofessional psychotherapist said that sudden-onset fame can pose a serious mental health problem. Chris ColferAccording to’s substitute, Monteith, a man who suffered from drug and alcohol addictions since the age 13, “wasn’t always coming prepared.” Is it time to get a shower?

When Glee’s Price is done speculating about why Monteith lost his battle with substance use disorder — Was it the show’s punishing schedule? Insecurities the actor has about his abilities as a dancer. — the series turns its attention to his costar and former girlfriend, Lea Michele.

“Lea’s an narcissist,” says a man who was an assistant to an executive producer during season 1. A set director from seasons 1 & 2 says, “It was all about her, always.” The second episode features an interview featuring a background actor who claims that the actress kissed him during a lunch break. We all know that Michele has never been in contention for Miss Congeniality. The Glee’s Price Overtime, she paints her as a heartless shrew and demanded everyone return to work two weeks after Monteith’s passing. As creator Ryan Murphy he said many times publiclyAfter consulting with Michele, he and producers made the final decision. Truth is not always the best; sexism will never go away.

The fast-paced final hour has many beats. This includes Mark Salling’s story about his suicide attempt in 2018. after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography. Glee’s Price It is important to remember that Salling was Puck, a bad boy who prided himself in his sexual conquests. Rivera and the actor had a turbulent relationship. Nobody on set knew that Salling was so disturbed. “What was really going on inside him? I’m not really sure,” says Rivera. GleeFrom seasons 1-4,’s key assistant manager location manager.

Rivera’s father meanwhile, remembers Rivera as a talented performer and a driver who transformed. GleeSantana was transformed by her undeniable charisma from a minor role to a major part. Producers feel the need to interview Rivera’s former coroner, who didn’t write Rivera’s autopsy report, but still has “some theories” about what happened in the horrible boating accident that claimed her life. Cool.

Glee’s Price has nothing new to tell us about any of these terribly sad events — and even if it did, do we really need more information? This show’s real tragedy is that streams and networks will continue to make junk similar to it so long as viewers keep watching. It’s not expensive to skip it. Grade: D-
