A restaurant known for tacos and tequila is headed for Columbia. Here’s where it will be

A new spot for tacos, tequila and more is coming to Columbia.

Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey is planning to open a restaurant at 4420 Devine St., according to a Friday afternoon release from commercial real estate firm Colliers South Carolina.

There currently are Barrio locations in a number of states. Its menu includes a wide selection of specialty tacos, as well as build-your-own options, along with appetizers, salsas and more. Its drink menu includes margaritas, bourbon and other libations. Barrio also has extensive brunch offerings.

“We are excited for our clients, Rich and Tina Kotlarek, to get their second Barrio Tacos location in South Carolina,” Colliers’ John Gressette said in a statement about the coming Devine Street spot. “This high-profile location will offer the brand excellent visibility and exposure to the Columbia market and provide an exciting atmosphere for customers to enjoy the experience of visiting Barrio Tacos.”

The Kotlareks also are opening a Barrio location at 105 West Main St. in Lexington, in the Icehouse on Main building. That site is already well under construction.

The Columbia Barrio location will be coming to a high-traffic spot along Devine Street. Jim Pagett, who owns the building at 4420 Devine, said the taco restaurant will be a great use of the property.

“Barrio, which means neighborhood, is the perfect concept for this redeveloped, quintessential neighborhood property,” Pagett said in a statement. “I have always wanted our community to enjoy and love this real estate as much as I do and Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey will provide a festive and delicious platform for us all to come together to eat, drink and celebrate life.”
