Alexander tops 1,000 points, No. 9 Terps beat Rutgers 80-56

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Diamond Miller had 17 points, six rebounds and five steals, and No. In an 80-56 win over Rutgers, 9 Maryland made 17 first-half turnovers.

Kaylene Smikle scored 21 for Rutgers, while Chyna Cornwallwell contributed 15. Shyanne Sellers was a Maryland player who scored 12 points.

MILESTONE

Alexander’s third quarter 3-pointer, which she hit from behind the Maryland bench, gave her more than 1,000 points. Alexander joins Meyers, Lavender Briggs and Miller in the 1,000-point club. Elisa Pizan is just 14 short of this milestone, after a five day.

Alexander was 6-8 from the 3-point line, while the team was 10 of 25.

Rutgers – Turnovers continue plague the Scarlet Knights. Their average game was 21.2. Awa Silibe had seven. Maryland was held to 41% shooting by the Scarlet Knights, but they shot just 32% from their own field.

Maryland: The Terps were able to keep the pace against Rutgers, which was a team that isn’t good at taking care of the ball. Meyers and Miller demonstrated the many ways they could contribute on both ends of court.
