Brewton sparks Alcorn State past Prairie View A&M in OT

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) — Dominic Brewton came off the bench to score 20 points, including six in overtime, and Alcorn State beat Prairie View A&M 77-68 on Monday night.

Brewton took 7 of 12 shots and made all six of the free throws for Braves (7-10, 4-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Dontrell McQuarter scored 14 points and Byron Joshua added 14. McQuarter had eight rebounds, while Joshua had four assists. Jeremiah Kendall contributed 12 points and 14 boards.

Yahuza Raas was the Panthers’ (7-12, 3-3) leader with 21 points et 8 rebounds. Will Douglas scored 14 points and had seven boards. Hegel Augustin scored 10 points, and the second of the two free throws was made with just two seconds remaining to send the game into overtime tied at 63.

Alcorn State was leading 38-30 at the haltime.
