Bucs expect to fire offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have big plans for offensive improvement after a disappointing season.

Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich is expected to be fired. per Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report.

Leftwich’s offense saw a huge drop in production this year, averaging just 18 points per game, after averaging more than 30 per game over the past two seasons. Tampa Bay’s inability to move the ball consistently throughout the year was evident. The team finished last in the NFL for rushing and scored over 30 points twice.

Leftwich was the Bucs’ offensive coordinator in 2019. He worked one season as a quarterback for Jameis Winston before joining the team under Bruce Arians. He was able to surpass his previous successes with the offense in 2022 despite two seasons of huge numbers and success.

Tampa Bay faces many potential roster changes this offseason. Key players from both the basketball and baseball are heading for free agency. There is also a difficult salary cap situation.

With all the changes that lie ahead for this team, it looks like they’ll be starting with the coaching staff.
