China slams Czech president-elect over telephone name with Taiwan president

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s overseas ministry on Tuesday condemned a telephone name between Czech President-elect Petr Pavel and Taiwan President Tsai Ing-Wen, accusing Pavel of going again on his phrase and missing credibility.

Tsai held a name with Pavel on Monday, a diplomatic breakthrough for the China-claimed island, which has no formal relations with Prague.

Chinese language overseas ministry spokesperson Mao Ning advised a daily information briefing that China expressed sturdy dissatisfaction and agency opposition to the decision, and that it had made stern representations to the Czech aspect.

Mao additionally questioned Pavel’s credibility for what she described as a change in his place that Beijing’s claims over the self-ruled island ought to be revered.
