Congo’s army reports that 6 people were killed in a bomb attack on a church.

GOMA, Congo (AP) — A suspected extremist attack at a church in eastern Congo killed at least six people and wounded more than a dozen others according to the country’s army.

Anthony Mwalushayi, a spokesperson for the military, told The Associated Press that a group connected to Islamic extremists was responsible for the explosion at the Kasindi Pentecostal church in North Kivu.

Mwalushayi stated that a Kenyan national was arrested on the spot without any documents.

The Associated Press saw photos and videos of the attack that showed the victims being taken out of the church, surrounded by screaming people.

Kasindi village, near the Uganda-Uganda border, has been the victim of several attacks by fighters from the Allied Democratic Forces. This group is thought to be associated with the Islamic State group.
